Welcome in our experiment on recommender systems
This experiment aims at better understanding how people react to news recommendations and the informations that are provided to them. Providing more information might bias your answers during the experiment, however if you wish to know more, you can ask to be informed of the results once they get published.
Why should I participate?Obviously participating to this experiment is not mandatory but your participation is highly valuable to this research and thus research in general. A big part of research relies on voluntary participation. Without it, research cannot progress. Therefore we kindly ask for about one hour of your time (30 minutes twice) to help us.
Can I participate? To participate you need to fulfill the following requirements :
- Being over 18
- You have a normal or corrected-to-normal vision (with glasses or contact lenses)
-
Your reading comprehension in English is B2 or above
- You haven't participated in the first study in November 2025
- You are using a computer
This experiment consists of two sessions of 30 minutes each.
If you agree to participate, the first session will happen today and you'll be contacted in about three weeks for the second session. This delay is due to the fact that we need to recruit alls participants before moving to the second session.
During the first session, you'll be asked to fulfill a questionnaire and then to rate a set of news articles based on their title and a short description.
These ratings will be used to train a recommender system and generate some personalized news recommendations.
During the second session, you'll be asked to rate these recommendations and then answer a questionnaire.
